Festival opening night

Just a quick update about the Festival opening night. It is really important that you all stay on your stands between 18.30 and 21.00. However, at 21.00 when the opening night closes, we have arranged for some catering so that you can all grab something to eat, and you will also all receive 1 wine voucher to use in the Student Refectory.
Just to re-iterate it is crucial that you all stay on your stands between 18.30 and 21.00.

T-Shirt Printing and Logo

A few issues have arisen regarding the t-shirt printing. Please read below for our recommendations.

BU Core Logo:
Due to the complexity of the BU Birds Logo it will be difficult to have the logo reproduced on your t-shirts, to this end we are now advising that you use the BU Core Logo. There are two options for the reproduction of the logo vinyl and embroidery, you will need to discuss with the t-shirt company what option you think is best and the cost implications that this may have.

T-Shirts / Polo Shirts:
We have provided a colour palette of the BU Colours. It is strongly advised that if you require a coloured shirt that you pick a colour as close to one of the predefined colours as possible. If you need reminding what colour your course is simply look on the website.

Positioning:
Logos would need to be set on the right breast of the wearer left-breast for the onlooker and the Size = 65mm. Your course logo set to the left breast if you have one.

Important Info for Interior Design

After discussing the use of the new Atrium area with the Scolarest manager, Ricky King, it has been decided that Interior Design will now display in the Staff Common Room. This decision was reached after concerns over the security of the Interior Design student's work.

Thomas Hardy Suite Floor Plan

The CAPD and DE students informed us that after measuring up the space in PG142, PG143 and PG144 they feel that opening out this area will still not provide enough space for all members of CAPD, DE and InDe to display.

Landscape brochure Images

The images that you supply us MUST be landscape. I appreciate that some people have products / projects that lend themselves to portrait but the design requires a landscape final image. This forms part of the design brief and therefore must be adhered to.

Follow the link below to the PDF of last years brochure for inspiration.

FoDI brochure word count

After receiving comments from one of the reps that they felt restricted by the 60 words limit for text, we have decided that if necessary it is ok for students to use up to 80 words absolute maximum for their text. However, considering the size of the brochure (which is obviously smaller than last year) the majority of you will probably feel that you can communicate what you want to say concisely in 60 words.
Please pass this onto the rest of your course asap.

Image Size & DPI for Brochure

I just wanted to clarify the requirements for the images that you will be supplying for the 2009 Festival brochure.

As the images are printed in the brochure the required resolution is 300dpi for maximum quality. However as most of you will be working with screen based media your default resolutions tends to be 72dpi. Therefore we ask that the final images you supply must be:

2480px (w) by 1748px (h) at 72dpi this equates to 210mm by 148mm at 300dpi (A5 dimensions)

To preserve the quality of the image we ask that you provide us with a tiff rather than a jpg as jpgs compress the image by distorting it.

If there are any further questions or technical queries then please ask.

Click on the link below to access the BU Festival logo to pass on to the T-Shirt printers.

It's in EPS format - DO NOT open in Photoshop and re-save as this will discard the vector data.
